Coach Rodney Curry: Building a Legacy of Excellence
In 2022, Rodney Curry made history as the inaugural head men’s basketball coach for Omega Sports Academy International (OSAI). In his debut season, Coach Curry led the team to an impressive 7-5 record, highlighted by dominant victories over Fort Lauderdale Prep and Saints Prep in every matchup. The season began with a strong 4-0 start and concluded with a competitive 4-3 finish, showcasing Curry's ability to inspire growth and success in his program.
Before joining OSAI, Coach Curry served as an assistant coach at Atlantis University in Miami, Florida, where he played a vital role in player development and strength and conditioning for the 2022-2023 season. With over 20 years of coaching experience, he has dedicated his career to developing high school players, many of whom have advanced to collegiate and professional levels.
Coach Curry’s academic background includes studies at Galilee College, where he focused on Business Administration and Leadership. He also holds diplomas in Psychology and Sports Coaching. A certified FIBA Level 2 basketball coach, IAAF Level 2 track and field coach, and USAB Gold license coach, his diverse credentials reflect a deep commitment to athletic and personal development.
Before transitioning to college basketball, Curry made significant contributions to the Bahamas junior National Track and Field team, helping to achieve notable success in sprints and relays. His efforts played a crucial role in prequalifying the men’s 4x100m relay team for the 2012 London Olympics.
In high school basketball, Coach Curry's track record speaks for itself. He has achieved over 200 wins with just 65 losses, earned eight championships, made two Elite 8 tournament appearances, and received multiple Coach of the Year nominations, underscoring his coaching excellence.
Off the court, Coach Curry is a devoted family man. He is married to Tabitha Curry, a former basketball standout in Georgia, and together they are proud parents to five children.
With a foundation rooted in faith, an extensive coaching background, and a winning mentality, Coach Curry embodies a unique blend of leadership and expertise. His dedication to instilling Godly principles, fostering resilience, and cultivating a culture of success continues to make a lasting impact at Omega Sports Academy International.
